カンボジア情報
カンボジア王国（カンボジアおうこく）はインドシナ半島にあり、ベトナム、タイ、ラオスに接している東南アジアの国。首都はプノンペン。近隣の国とは陸続きであるが、国民の90%以上がクメール人（カンボジア人）である。言語はクメール語（カンボジア語）、宗教は仏教（上座部仏教）である。
正式名称は、クメール語: Image:Cambodia2.png（発音:プリアリアチアナチャクラ・カンプチア、ラテン文字表記:Preahreacheanachakr
Kampuchea） プリアは王の称号。リアチアは王、アナチャクラは国で、両方合わせたリアチアナチャクラは王国と言う意味。隣国のタイの正式名称とよく似ている。
この国の中心には国際河川の大河メコン川が流れ水運をになっている。主食は米で稲作農業が盛んである。この国の中央付近にはトンレサップという大きな湖があり、その北方にはクメール文明の遺跡として世界的に有名なアンコール・ワットやアンコール・トムといったアンコール遺跡（1992年、世界遺産登録）が存在する。
独立後、共産主義政党クメール・ルージュの独裁者ポル・ポトの政権下で、ベトナムも介入した内戦が続き、国内で当時の人口のおよそ三分の一にあたる200万人とも言われる途方もない規模の大虐殺が行われた(数については諸説あり)。国連の仲介で内戦が収束し、新憲法が制定され、現在に至る。この時の国連の代表が日本国籍の明石康代表である。
